Our research on the quantitative signatures of spatial organization in cities got accepted for publication. in the journal Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications

In this work, we quantified the statistical properties of the spatial organization of city elements like roads and buildings. Using the Metro Manila data sets, we observed that heavy-tailed statistics are most often observed in spatial arrangement of city elements, which is very different from what would be observed if the structures were just scattered at random. Thus, these distributions quantify the level of human influence over the urban landscape.

The team is composed of Camille D. Perlada and Michelle T. Cirunay, graduate students from the De La Salle University - Manila (DLSU), Ardie K. Orden, a geospatial analyst from ThinkingMachines Data Science, and Dr. Rene C. Batac from DLSU.
